Gateshead FC's ownership structure is in limbo after a proposed share transfer has stalled. A shareholder has agreed to gift his shares to fellow shareholder Stephen Paylor, but approval from the Independent Football Regulator (IFR) is now in doubt.
Paylor indicated he could not provide funding alone and was relying on joint investment from a third party. That third party's initial strong interest has since waned, making IFR approval of the transfer unlikely.
Players and Staff Unpaid
The uncertainty comes as Gateshead FC's players and staff remain without pay. The club is now appealing to its shareholders to continue providing funding support to buy time while the club seeks fresh investment.
