Gateshead FC has signed centre-back Harrison Holgate on a deal for the remainder of the 2026/27 season. The 26-year-old arrives on Tyneside following his departure from EFL League Two side Fleetwood Town at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Holgate emerged through Fleetwood's academy system and made over 100 appearances for the Cod Army across League One and League Two. Earlier in his career, he had loan spells with Ashton United and Altrincham in the National League North and National League. He signed his first professional deal with Fleetwood as a 17-year-old.
Holgate's Move to Gateshead
The defender is eligible for immediate inclusion in the match day squad. Speaking about his move, Holgate said he took time to consider his options after leaving Fleetwood.
"I spoke to the gaffer a few weeks ago," he said. "He put across his thoughts for me for the season, how he wants to play, what he wants the team to look like, and I guess it was more about taking my time. It's a position I've never found myself in, I've been out of contract and it was important to not rush things.
"I was taking my time looking and seeing what was right because I know it's a big year for me. I wanted to go somewhere and play football, kick on again and show my quality."
