Gateshead goalkeeper Adam Desbois has signed for Carlisle United on a two-year contract with the option of a further year. The 25-year-old transfers from National League rivals Gateshead for an undisclosed fee.
Desbois will reunite with Rob Elliot, his former manager at Gateshead, at Brunton Park. Elliot oversaw Gateshead's relegation escape last season, during which Desbois made 12 appearances and kept five clean sheets, including one against Carlisle in April.
Elliot's assessment
Elliot told the Carlisle United website: "He has excellent technical qualities, is a very good shot-stopper and is comfortable with the ball at his feet, which gives him the ability to play the way we want to play."
"He's already shown his quality consistently at this level. We believe he'll be a really strong addition to the group and we're looking forward to working with him and helping him continue to develop."
Background
Desbois came through Reading's academy and spent the first part of last season with Slough Town in the National League South, where he made 33 league appearances.
