Gateshead FC has signed forward Luke Supyk on a two-year deal running until the end of the 2027/28 season. The 20-year-old joins following a successful trial period in pre-season, during which he scored three goals across fixtures against Blyth Town, Heaton Stannington and Hebburn Town.
Background
Supyk arrives after departing A-League club Wellington Phoenix at the end of the 2025/26 season. He spent almost three years with the New Zealand outfit as a professional after graduating from their academy.
The forward was the youngest member of Wellington Phoenix's first-team squad during the 2023/24 campaign. He has represented New Zealand at youth level, appearing twice for the U20 side at the 2025 U20 World Cup and playing in the U19 OFC Championship the previous year.
Supyk's Comments
"I'm delighted really," Supyk said. "I've had a few good games under the belt, and I'm just excited to get going for the season and meet all the fans. I just tried working my hardest, obviously being a trialist, trying to earn a spot in the team."
"I'm buzzing for the first game of the National League season, I can't wait really. Pre-season games are all good, but the real edge starts when you're playing a competitive game so I'm looking forward to that first game, definitely."
