Gateshead FC has signed 20-year-old midfielder Rocco Coyle on a two-year deal. Coyle arrives on Tyneside from Premier League side Hull City, where he captained the club's U18 squad before signing his first professional contract in December 2023.

Loan Experience

During the early part of the 2025/26 season, Coyle spent time on loan in the Enterprise National League with Boston United, making 18 appearances across all competitions. He then joined National League North side Scarborough Athletic, where he made 11 appearances before returning to his parent club.

Coyle on His Move

"It's a good feeling to be a part of the team," Coyle said. "It's exciting, everyone has got that buzz about Saturday and the first game. I came in at the back end of last week to meet the gaffer and the lads, and it was very positive – as soon as I came in I knew that I was wanting to sign here."

The midfielder described his playing style as defensive-minded. "I'm a midfielder who stays a bit behind the ball and plays a little bit deeper, but I'm someone who can bring that calmness and quality, and out of possession get stuck in. I feel like I can adapt and really do well for this team, and hopefully as a team do well as well."

The signing is subject to National League and FA approval.
